Risk assessment is the process of evaluating a site, work location, and task to identify potential hazards that could cause harm to people, structures, assets, or the environment, and determining the necessary control measures to reduce the risk to acceptable levels. A hazard is anything with the potential to cause harm, and risk is determined by evaluating both the likelihood and consequence of that hazard being realised (Risk = Likelihood x Consequence).
